Christmas Song with Cyndi!

December 18th, 2012

Good morning!  I cant believe Christmas will be here in just one week!  So in the spirit of the season I pulled out the gorgeous Christmas Song set for a fast card that would be easy to make multiples of at the last minute.

I simply sponged my white cardstock with Peeled Paint and Mowed Lawn Distress inks using a Foam applicator then I embossed the ornament in Detail white EP.  Add a couple of CAS layers and some hemp and you have a quick card thats easy to duplicate!
I hope your holidays are merry and your spirits are bright!

Sassy Snow with Megan!

December 16th, 2012
Hi all! Megan Aaron here. For this fun wintery card, I used the Sassy Snow stamp set. I stamped the snowman on the die cut cardstock circle, then I masked him out and stamped the snowflakes all around him. I used some Clearsnap twinkle embossing ink for the lighter snowflakes. It gives them a little bit of glitter. The darker ones are silver pigment ink. I also colored in his scarf, mittens and nose with copic markers.
That’s all for me today.  Don’t forget about the great sale that Skipping Stones is having.  Now is the time to stock up on your favorites before they are out of stock.  Just scroll down for the details in Glenda’s post.  Oh, and if you are having ANY issues with the code, please email Heather at madebyme33 (at) hotmail (dot) com and let her know.  She will take it from there!

Happy Friday everyone!  Hope you’ve had a fabulous week.  I’ve decided to get glittery today and play with Sassy Snow.

I decided to use these wintery stamps to make a seasonal friendship card.  Made the snow banks with just my hobby knife and some glitter.  The tree is a wood veneer.

A Damask Christmas Song with Jingle

December 13th, 2012

Hi, guys! It’s Jingle!   It’s great to be back here on the Skipping Stones Design blog to share with you a bit before the big changes go into place.  I pulled out a couple of super pretty sets to create a Christmas card to share with you today.

Celebrate the Season

The ornament is from the beautiful Christmas Song set and the border is from the Damask Darling set.  I embossed them in gold and silver for a super pretty holiday feel!  I love how the intricate designs of these stamps make a simple card look so elegant!

I hope you have a super fabulous day!!!  Feel free to visit my blog, Just Jingle!

Holiday Cats and Brrrrrthday with Wendy

December 12th, 2012
Hi everyone! Wendy here and today I’m sharing a winter thank you card I made using Holiday Cats and Brrrrthday.

I stamped the snowflakes from Brrrrthday in Versamark on the white cardstock and then embossed them in white embossing powder. I added a bit of light blue chalk ink just to make the snowflakes stand out a bit.
I stamped the Santa hat, masked it off and stamped the cat image under it. Next I colored the image with copics and cut it out.
To create the snow scene, I cut hills of white cardstock and covered them in glitter. I stamped the sentiment on a flag banner and added a tulle bow.

Tesa gets scrappy with Grunge 2

December 9th, 2012
Hi folks! Tesa here to share a project made with one of my favorite Skipping Stones Designs Set. It was a tough process to narrow the sets down, but I finally settled with the oh so fab Grunge 2 set. I tend to gravitate towards it again and again. :)
I’ve made quite a few cards with it before, but this time I thought I’d make a layout with my boy.

Smile layout

This is my boy having fun in the medieval ruins of a church. He had so much fun and I wanted to capture his smile and the joy of the moment. The stamping is central, it frames the cluster of photo, papers and embellies.

Smile 3

I teamed up the stamping with some mists and a sponged arrow template. All the papers and chipboards are from October Afternoon.
The Grunge 2 set is a must have for me, and if you want one too, hurry up before it’s sold out! ;)
Thanks for stopping by today!

Chocolate 1 and 2 with Katie G.

December 7th, 2012

Hello friends!

Happy Friday!!!  There are few things in this life better than laughter and making other people smile.  Skipping Stones has so many great, funny sets, and I thought I would highlight a couple of those sets today on my card:

I created a candy box using the confections found in Chocolate 1 and 2 and paper pieced them onto a label that I die cut from cardstock.  The sentiment is from Chocolate 2.  The patterned papers are from Echo Park’s For the Record 2 collection.

If you like funny sets, now would be a fantastic time to pick up a couple Skipping Stone funnies before they are sold out.  Don’t forget about the PMS sale too!  Where else do you get so richly rewarded for purchasing MORE stamps!

Winner Wednesday – Sketch #156

December 5th, 2012

Hi, everyone!

It’s our last Winner Wednesday and I’m sure this winner is really feeling quite lucky

because……….

Random.org chose #7 which is Dorothy S. (once again) for this week’s winner!  ;-)

I love that she used a different shape than the sketch presented and that gorgeous embossing really makes the tag stand out!

Congrats again, Dorothy!

Please send an email to our DT Coordinator, Katie at scrappy_diva(at)yahoo(dot)com and let her know which set you would like as your prize. Don’t forget that we announced a new sketch challenge yesterday! Just scroll down for all the details.

Have a great week!

Wise Men with Karen Baker

December 4th, 2012

Karen from the Bald Dragonfly here to showcase one of Skipping Stones Design’s best holiday stamp set, Wise Men (well, at least in my opinion, there are many holiday sets to choose from!)

I started by creating a deep blue panel with distress inks and shimmer spray. I stamped the lone wise man image onto the bottom portion of the panel and then on the top portion, and then I stamped the star in a white ink and heat embossed it. There was a little too much space to my liking between the two images, so I cut a center piece out and then adhered the two panels to a kraft card base with glue and a thin line of stitching. I finished the card by stamping and heat embossing in black with one of the amazing sentiments in the set.

You won’t want to miss choosing this set to make its way to you before they are all gone, and while you are shopping, take advantage of the PMS sale going on too!

An announcement and PMS sale starts today!

December 3rd, 2012

Good morning!

Heather here with some important information to share with you about Skipping Stones Design.

I started Skipping Stones Design several years ago to help stampers share the gift of laughter one card at a time. Over the years, I have been nothing short of blessed to share this gift of laughter with all of you and see these stamps come to life in your hands. Recently, behind the scenes, I have been juggling work, graduate school, being a mom to two wonderful kids and, like many of you, trying my hardest to keep all the balls in the air. I have reached a juncture where it is no longer tenable to continue this pace and as a result, I have made the difficult decision to take a hiatus from Skipping Stones Design.

To use a baseball analogy, I am thinking of this break as a 7th inning stretch of sorts and here’s what this means to you:

Effective this month, we will be discontinuing our weekly sketch challenges. We will honor all previous sketch winners through the end of December. If you are a past winner and you have not received your free set, please drop an email to my DT coordinator, Katie, at scrappy_diva (at) yahoo (dot) com, and let her know which challenge you won and which set you would like. She will pass that information along to me and I will get your stamps out. The winner for sketch challenge 156 will be announced here on the blog on December 5th.

As part of this hiatus, I am also suspending release of new designs.

Starting today through the end of January, the entire store is on sale, AND the more you buy, the more you save. That’s right, we are having our famous (or infamous) Purchase More Stamps (PMS) sale to help me reduce inventory.

Buy ONE set: Enter PMS1 for 5% off!
Buy TWO sets: Enter PMS2 for 10 % off!
Buy THREE sets: Enter PMS3 for 15% off!
Buy FOUR sets: Enter PMS4 for 20% off!
Buy FIVE sets: Enter PMS5 for 25% off!
Buy SIX or MORE sets: Enter PMS6 for 30% off!

If you have any challenges with the discount codes, please email me directly at madebyme33 (at) hotmail (dot) com. I will turn around an invoice that reflects your savings.

Although I plan to leave the store open and continue to make available some of our most popular sets, the inventory of some of our other sets will not be replenished once they sell out. With the entire store currently in stock, now is the time to pick up a favorite set or two or five before they become scarce!!

Finally, I have often referred to Skipping Stones as my third child. Needless to say, I would love to see my little stamp business continue to grow and thrive. As much as I look forward to reaching a point in my life where I can again devote time and resources to Skipping Stones Design, I am simply unsure of what the future holds. If you have an interest in owning a stamp company and perhaps picking up where I am leaving off, please send me a note, and let me know.

Over the next couple months, the Design Team will be popping on the blog to share inspiration and projects they created using some of their favorite sets. Also, don’t forget to bookmark our Pinterest boards for sketch and card inspiration.

Before I go, I would like to say THANK YOU to my AMAZING design team, Megan, Tesa, Rochelle, Glenda, Wendy, Katie, Karen, Cyndi, Judith, and Stephanie. I would also like to acknowledge Jingle who was with me from the start and will be stopping back in over the next couple months to share some projects with you. These ladies seriously rock the stamps and I am so grateful for the inspiration they have provided. I also want to THANK you for your business and support over the years. Skipping Stones would not be what it is today without you!

Big hugs,
Heather Engebretson
