Margarita Monday!

Did you know Monday, 2/22 is National Margarita Day?!

Kandi here and although I’m not a huge Margarita fan (sorry, Tequila!), I do love a beautiful mixed drink or a decadent glass of wine. Today is technically National Drink Wine Day and while I’ll definitely get behind that later tonight, I’m excited to share a fun card with you that honors Margarita’s and get you thinkng about how you’ll celebrate on Monday! I created a birthday card using Margarita Birthday and Friendly Fruit.

Who doesn’t want to be reminded of an impending birthday? Ok, most people probably don’t want to be reminded, but at least this card takes the salt out of the wound of another birthday. Right…? (Pun intended. HA!)

Margarita Birthday1

I started off by die cutting an oval in the center of my white card base, and then stamped the lime images from Friendly Fruit by using the Rock N Roll technique to the front of the card. By first inking up the image in a lighter green and then rolling the edges of the stamp into a darker green, I was able to acheive a fun and multi-colored look for the lime.

In the center of the oval cut out and inside the card base, I stamped the margarita glass in Versamark ink, embossed it in clear embossing powder and then used a blender pen with my ink pads to color in the image. I loved experimenting with this idea as I wanted to keep the look of a glass but highlight the colors from the frothy margarita drink and lime.

Lots of little sequin and enamel accents added to the playfulness of the card, but the sentiments make the card shine by reminding the recipent that every birthday should be taken with a grain of salt…especially when the salt accompanies a drink and good friends!

To finish off the card I added some chunky glassy enamel to the rim of the glass to mimic salt, and stamped the remainder of the sentiment on the inside of the card.

Margarita Birthday is a fantastic set for birthdays but also has great sentiments and images for good times!

Will you be joining me in a margarita or decadent drink on Monday?! I’d love to hear your favorite drinks or stamps for birthdays!
