Coffee anyone?

Kelly Blog 0 Comments

I do not actually drink coffee, which for someone from the Land of Starbucks, kind of makes me a heretic!  However, not being coffee drinker doesn’t keep me from making a cool card featuring coffee!

The images and sentiments used on the card are from Skipping Stones Designs’ Coffee #2.  I used three of the coffee cup images to make this simple pop-up card.  I used Copic markers to color all three of the coffee cup images and also to add dimension to the large flower images.  Each of the smallest flower images also has Spectrum Noir clear sparkle on them.

The pop-up mechanism is simply a piece of cardstock slightly smaller than the width of the things I wanted to move when the card is open.  Mine needed to be 1″ wide.  I made it 5″ tall because the images are fairly tall..  To make the mechanism, fold your piece of cardstock in half and then in half again.  The end pieces get attached equally to the area just above and below the card’s crease. The mechanism should lay flat against both the top and bottom of the card.  Attach the pop-ups to the quarter let free on the bottom of the card’s crease and you’re done.  (The is actually really simple but sounds from my description!)

I provided a little “counter for the cups to sit on and the message would go beneath it.

Cheers to hot tea . . . the rest of you can have the coffee!

Imagine with butterflies

Martha Lucia Gomez handmade cards, Inspiration, Martha Lucia Gomez Hernandez, New stamp sets, Samples 1 Comment

Hello everyone, Martha Lucia here to share with you a card that I made using the butterfly included on the stamp set Imagine from Skipping Stones Designs. I really like this stamp set because it is perfect for CAS models and their images are plenty of details. Take a look at my card:

Imagine with Butterflies

This is one layer card that I made using crumb cake card stock. I started by stamp three times the butterfly image using the Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and the MISTI tool. Then I colored with Prismacolor Premier pencils each butterfly trying to keep one line of color each butterfly.

Imagine with Butterflies

To embellish the card I stamped with Versamark and Gold Embossing Powder one of the sentiments included on Imagine stamp set over a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. I cut it in a banner style and pasted behind some loops created with metallic gold thread. Then I pasted sentiment and thread with double sided foam tape.

Imagine with Butterflies

Easy and beautiful, don’t you think?

Skipping Stones has a lot of stamp sets that can be used to re-create this idea, just Imagine different colors or different events and you will happy to take a moment to make your card!!!

Under an Amber Moon

Debra Davison Blog 3 Comments

It’s so nice to be back posting with Skipping Stones Design. We have a new team; some returning, like me and also some new teammates. Our posts will each be twice a month. The stamps we use are going to be both digital and clear.  I have been creating with Prima’s new collection Amber Moon and will gladly admit that I am in love !! The colors and papers and washi and embellishments are just out-of-this-world.. I definitely have a serious crush !! I used the collection for my Blog Hop introduction post also, which you can see HERE.

For today’s card on my return to the Skipping Stone Blog, I kept with the coffee theme of my DT Intro post and used the travel mug stamp from Funny Coffee. It was perfect with these amazing papers and an Autumn theme. The Funny Coffee stamp set is out of stock but will be back soon in the SSD Store soon.

  • On a Green Ombre card base, I adhered a piece of orange-dotted Prima Amber Moon paper. All elements were adhered with Tombow MONO Aqua Liquid Glue.  The bottom edge of the patterned paper was border-punched with a Stampin’ Up punch.
  • I paper-punched a circle of Amber Moon’s word-strip paper and adhered it off-center towards the R side of the card.  The words “hearts’ and “grateful” are exactly where I wanted them !!
  • The travel mug from the Funny Coffee stamp set was stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa ink on Neenah Stardust White cardstock ( my favorite ) and a piece of Amber Moon paper.  I then fussy-cut the cup  and sleeve and adhered the patterned sleeve to the cup.
  • I placed a strip of Amber Moon washi across the cup sleeve so the word “blessed” was visible, then added an Amber Moon crystal to the washi.
  • A piece of Tim Holtz Linen Ribbon was tied around the orange-dotted paper before adhering it to the base card. That ribbon has been hoarded by me for quite awhile but it was TOO perfect for this card for me NOT to use it !!

Thank you for visiting the Skipping Stones Design Blog. I hope that you will leave a comment and let me know what you think of my card. My teammate Ginny Maxam will be up on the blog tomorrow. so please come back and welcome her to the team !!

I made a variation of the above card that I also wanted to show you .. I really do love using this travel mug with this Amber Moon collection.

Hi there,

it’s Tanja here and I would like to share another project using the wonderful Skipping Stones Design Let it be stamp set:

  • create a soft rainbow watercolor background using Distress Markers (Festive Berries, Ripe Persimmon, Fossilized Amber, Peacock Feathers, Mermaid Lagoon, Wilted Violet) and a wet watercolor brush
  • stamp the butterfly from the Skipping Stones Design Let it be set with Versafine (Smokey Gray) and color it with the same watered-down Distress Marker colors
  • add some splatters with black acrylic paint
  • cut out the CUTplorations thanks from white glitter fun foam and adhere it to the stitched watercolor panel
  • mount the panel onto a piece of grey patterned paper and use the Mini Perfect Layers Tool to create a perfect border

I especially created this card for Heather the owner of Skipping Stones Design as a huge “thank you” for her kindness and for letting the Design Team work with such wonderful designs.

If you want to share your SSD creations with us on social media, use #skippingstonesdesign and if you upload to Splitcoaststampers use the key words SSD and skippingstonedesign.
I hope you got inspired.

Let it Be

Cornelia Wenokor Blog 2 Comments

Hi Everyone,

Cornelia here today with a card, using this beautiful set called  Let it Be

SSD 6-2017 a

This is the set:

Don’t you love the chevron butterfly? I sure do!

I first heat embossed it in gold and then stamped it in black and fuzzy cut it.

I water colored around the edges of the butterfly. Let it dry and added black splatters. Wrapped gold embroidery thread around the black butterflies waist and mounted it with a thin strip of foam tape for extra dimension.

SSD 6-2017 b

I hope you liked this! Thanks for visiting!

Happy Stamping!
